Troubleshooting Event ID 1055 Source ClusSvc – IRPStackSize and Clusters
March 29, 2012 6 Comments
I’ve been contacted because all the share resources in cluster Windows 2003 where unavailable.
After analysis I’ve collected this information, from event viewer
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Srv
Event ID: 2011
Date: 3/29/2012
Time: 11:31:11 AM
Description:The server’s configuration parameter “irpstacksize” is too small for the server to use a local device.
Please increase the value of this parameter.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: ClusSvc
Event Category: File Share Resource
Event ID: 1055
Date: 3/29/2012
Time: 11:31:11 AM
Description:Cluster File Share resource ‘evidence$’ has failed a status check. The error code is 1130….
The Error Code 1130 means: Not enough server storage is available to process this command.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: ClusSvc
Event Category: Failover Mgr
Event ID: 1069
Date: 3/29/2012
Time: 11:31:11 AM
User: N/A
Description:
Cluster resource ‘evidence$’ in Resource Group ‘…….’ failed……………
NOTE: Before continue you should backup registry Keys, see here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/en-us, how to do it.
Solution:
In my case the DWORD KEY was not created so I’ve to add it.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Click Edit, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type IRPStackSize exactly as it is displayed, and then press ENTER to name the value. (The value name is case sensitive).
Double click in the Key and choose the base optional value Decimal and introduce in value data: 20

You need to restart the server service. (Lanmanserver), to take effect.
In my case all the shares where unavailable so there was no effect restarting the service but when you stop the server service, your network shares will be temporarily unavailable.
Note: Increase by increments of 2 if the problem persists
