Backup and Restore NTFS permissions


To execute this operation we will use the tool  Icacls available here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919240/en-us.

To backup run from command line:

icacls H:\AdFind /save ntfsperms.txt /t /c

The output of the file will be something like this:

AdFind
“………
AdFind\adcsv.pl
D:(A;ID;FA;;;BA)(A;ID;FA;;;SY)(A;ID;0x1301bf;;;AU)(A;ID;0x1200a9;;;BU)
AdFind\AdFind.exe

…………..”

To restore run from command line:

icacls h:\ /restore ntfsperms.txt
